Before everything changed

Before grief became part of her story, Michelle was building a life she loved with her husband, Luke. Together they were raising their family, investing in their future, and living the kind of life they expected would keep unfolding for years to come. She was balancing family, career, responsibility, and the everyday rhythms that make a life feel steady and known.

It was a full life, a meaningful life, and a life she believed she understood. Like so many people, she had plans, expectations, and a picture of what the years ahead would hold.

When life changed

Then everything changed. Luke became ill, and in 2020 Michelle faced the unimaginable loss of her husband. At 41, she became a widow while still raising children and trying to make sense of a life that no longer looked anything like the one she had planned.

Loss has a way of changing more than circumstances. It changes the questions you ask, the way you move through the world, and the way you understand yourself. For Michelle, this was not only the loss of a person she deeply loved. It was the loss of the future she thought they would share.

The fog

What followed was the fog so many grieving people know well. Michelle was carrying sorrow, parenting through pain, and trying to understand who she was now. The roles, routines, and identity she had known were shifting all at once, and there was no simple map for what came next.

In that season, faith mattered. So did honesty. She learned that rebuilding is rarely quick or tidy. It often begins with simply telling the truth about what hurts, holding on to hope, and taking one small step at a time.

What came next

Out of that lived experience, Michelle began creating what she wished had existed when her own world fell apart. She founded Widowed 2 Soon, built Widow Goals, wrote Widow Goals, and began hosting retreats, speaking, and gathering people into honest, supportive community.

Her work grew because it was real. It came from walking through heartbreak, asking hard questions, and discovering that healing is strengthened when people feel seen, understood, and less alone. What started as personal survival became a mission to help others find their footing again.

The bigger realization

Over time, Michelle realized that rebuilding is not only a widow’s journey. The same deep questions rise after death, divorce, betrayal, abandonment, broken dreams, career changes, and painful shifts in family life. People from many different stories find themselves asking: What happened to my life? Who am I now? How do I move forward from here?

That realization expanded the mission. The heart of her work is not limited to one kind of loss. It is about helping people rebuild when life has changed and the old version of normal is gone.

Today

Today, Michelle helps people process what happened, rediscover who they are, reconnect with purpose and community, dream again, and rebuild. Through coaching, books, speaking, retreats, podcast conversations, and the AGAIN Method, she offers practical encouragement for people who are ready to move forward with honesty, faith, and hope.

Her approach is warm, grounded, and deeply personal. She does not offer quick fixes. She offers companionship, perspective, and tools for the rebuilding journey.

My story

When life changed

I know what it feels like when the life you expected disappears. Loss changes the landscape, and for a while, even ordinary decisions can feel unfamiliar. I won’t pretend there is a shortcut through that.

But I have learned that what happened will always be part of your story, and it does not have to be the end of your story. Little by little, you can process what changed, rediscover who you are, let people in, dream again, and rebuild what comes next.

You can’t go back, but you can live again.

Michelle Bader Ebersole

Today, I write, speak, host conversations on the podcast, and coach people who are finding their footing after loss or major change. My faith keeps me grounded, my sense of humor keeps me human, and practical next steps keep me moving.
